Roland Reiss and Dawn Arrowsmith studio visit, The Brewery, LA, CA

As a member of the MOCA Contemporaries, I was afforded the opportunity, this past weekend, to visit the studio’s of five artists, who are local Angeleno’s. Introducing, Roland Reiss, and Dawn Arrowsmith.
Roland Reiss’ work is immaculate in every which way. He brings flowers to the forefront of “contemporary”. His use of imagery is incapsulated in acrylic on canvas with sprinkles of mixed media, and his studio is stretched two, 20×20 rooms wide. While his studio boasts space, there is amazing natural light throughout which contributes to an erethral sense of artistic connection.
Dawn Arrowsmith’s collection of circle paintings is like taking a very conscious inhale, and exhale. A minimalist approach to a profound color experience centered in a calm, state of balance, patience and non-attachement. if you stare at the center of the circle for more than 30 seconds, the complementary color of the circle engulfs the outer rim and glows as a sort of eclipse. No drugs needed for this trip!

authentic and with good intention
My current portfolio showcases works that create a dyadic relationship. I encourage you to examine what a relationship may mean to you. I hope you will find some humor, inspiration and beauty in my portfolio images.
Henri Cartier-Bresson’s exploration of relationship inspires me to cultivate my eye through the lens. Bresson’s concept of “decisive moments”, photography as art, inspires me with the endless possibilities inherent in creating image and the relationship of pairing two things together.
With time seemingly getting faster and with all the non-stop digital content constantly streaming in front of us – we don’t self reflect much anymore. We have become, for the most part, self involved with the “I” the ego and “me”.
